Read-Aloud Author Submissions Are Open!
As a former actor and theatre teacher, I know how powerful it is when a story comes to life out loud.
That’s why I’m building a new YouTube channel called Right Cat Reads, where I’ll feature read-alouds of self-published picture books — with heart, humor, and a little bit of theatrical flair.
Self-published authors deserve more visibility, and families deserve more access to books that reflect the full spectrum of childhood, identity, and imagination, especially as academic book bans spread!
Right Cat Reads is for you if:
✅ You’re a self-published children’s book author
✅ Your book is human-made (no AI-generated text or illustrations, please)
✅ Your story aligns with the inclusive and affirming spirit of Right Cat Reads
✅ Your story speaks for itself (lessons/morals should be subtle; nothing too on-the-nose)
✅ You’re excited to be part of a grassroots effort to get great stories into the minds of the kids who need them!
There’s no cost to participate. If your book is selected, you’ll get:
✅ A professionally read YouTube read-aloud of your book
✅ A downloadable audiobook-style MP3 of the reading (perfect for a freebie, Kickstarter reward, or email opt-in)
✅ A link back to author website (great for SEO!) and/or book sales page
✅ More eyes and ears on your work — from parents, educators, librarians, and kids
Here’s how it works:
Submit your book using the Google form below.
If your book is a good fit, I’ll get in touch with next steps, including an estimated video release date. Not every book will be selected, but all submissions are warmly welcomed.
If selected, I’ll create:
A full read-aloud video for YouTube
An audio file you can use as a freebie or Kickstarter'/fundraising reward.
Links and tags to help folks find your book
